New Features
Forum Post Notification Preferences Now Customisable
Overview
Admin users now have greater control over how notifications are sent for forum posts created in Mapal One. You can now choose whether posts trigger email notifications, push notifications, both, or none at all, reducing noise and duplication.
Why This Matters
Previously, forum posts in Mapal One sent both email and push notifications by default, without giving users the flexibility to choose. This often led to frustration, as some users received the same message through multiple channels. In contrast, our News module already supports notification preferences—this update brings forums in line with that experience.
What’s New
1. Forum-Level Notification Preferences
- A new setting appears in each forum channel in Engagement admin:
“Notify audience about Mapal One posts in this forum” You can now toggle:
✅ Email
✅ Push Notification- Tooltips are provided to explain the setting’s function.
- These settings apply to all posts in that forum—unless overridden at the post level.
- Default state for both options: OFF
2. Per-Post Override (Admin)
- Admins can still manually override notification preferences on a per-post basis.
- This allows targeted control where specific posts need wider visibility.
Benefits
🔕 Reduce Notification Fatigue: Avoid receiving the same message twice via email and push
⚙️More Control: Set forum-wide defaults or override at the post level
📱Aligned UX: Forum channels now match News in terms of notification flexibility
🏆 Gamification Update: New Engagement-Based Rewards in Mapal One
Overview
We’ve expanded the Mapal One gamification system to include key engagement activities. Users can now earn recognition and rewards for participating in the platform’s most impactful features—helping to drive adoption, build community, and celebrate positive contributions.
Why This Matters
Until now, gamification in Mapal One focused mainly on learning-related tasks. However, many valuable actions—like completing surveys, submitting suggestions, or engaging in conversations—went unacknowledged.
This update brings these activities into the gamification ecosystem, encouraging ongoing interaction, participation, and peer recognition.
What’s New
The following activities will now trigger gamification events and reward points or badges (based on your configuration):
✅ Completing a survey
✅ Recognising a colleague (peer-to-peer recognition)
✅ Marking a news or forum post as read
✅ Commenting on a news or forum post
✅ Creating a forum post
✅ Submitting a suggestion
These events are tracked and integrated seamlessly into the existing gamification rules.
